Understanding the Wing List
Here’s a quick guide to help you interpret the wing list:
1
Wing Span & Chord
-
Use the plane’s name, not just the listed wing span, as measurements have been recorded differently over time.
-
Some measurements include the full wing span, while others show just the foam core (without tips).
-
The same applies to the chord—some show only the foam, while others include the finished wing.
-
Since the list spans 40 years and multiple owners, inconsistencies exist but are being corrected.
2
Number of Pieces
-
2 pieces – Standard setup: left and right wing panels.
-
3 pieces – Includes a flat center section with two outer panels that have dihedral.
-
4+ pieces – Used for complex designs (e.g., Mustangs or gliders) where the inner and outer panels have different sweeps or extensions.
